Lucy Brown

East Durham and Gambling Coordinator

Hello – My name is Lucy Brown or known as “Browny” to some.

I’m 30 (something) and this is all about me…

After leaving school, I got into various role in Retail. I started at Interflora HQ and Tesco’s. I always loved speaking to people and helping them.

I met my Husband, Steve in 2015 whilst I was working in our local Tesco’s in Lincolnshire. After a year of meeting, we were married! The adventure began of moving around the country for his job in the Armed Forces. I was very use to moving around as I did this as a child whilst my dad had his career in the Armed Forces as well. I’ve always loved meeting new people and seeing new places.  I’ve always been proud to be part of the Armed Forces Family and love to raise money for them.

In 2016 Steve & I uprooted and moved to Suffolk from Lincolnshire where I then got a job in Banking. I was a customer service representative and promoted to Personal Banking Manager.

We then moved again to North Yorkshire where I joined Durham Constabulary as a 999/101 Call Handler.

I did this role for a year and a half. I loved this role, helping people from the other end of the phone was thrilling and amazing however I knew I wanted more and to be face to face again with the public.

That’s when I took the plunge and became a Police Community Support Officer within Darlington Town Centre. I did this role for 2 years however I knew I needed a new challenge.

I saw the Peer Mentoring Co-Ordinator role advertisement and jumped at the chance of applying! I thought it was just my cup of tea. The thought of being more one to one with people and really making a difference to their lives and empower really inspired me.

In my spare time, I love spending time with family especially my 2 Nieces, Emily & Arabella and my nephew, Rupert. I like going to the gym and hikes with my husband, Steve.
